Overview
ReturnPing is an iPhone app for recording purchases, return deadlines, pending refunds, warranty dates, receipt images and reminder choices. This policy draft describes the current app behavior reflected in the implementation reviewed for this website. It should be checked against the exact released version before publication.
ReturnPing does not require a ReturnPing account. Purchase records are created from information you choose to enter in the app.
Information entered by users
Depending on how you use ReturnPing, you may enter a product name, retailer, category, price, currency, purchase date, return deadline, warranty expiration date and notes. You may also record return and refund information, including return dates, expected or received refund amounts and expected or received refund dates.
You choose whether to add these details and whether to attach a receipt image. ReturnPing also stores the reminder settings and app preferences needed to provide the features you select.
Local storage
ReturnPing stores purchase details, refund records, reminder records and app settings in a database on the device. Receipt images selected for a purchase are copied into ReturnPing’s private app storage. The current implementation does not require an app-operated account or cloud-sync service for these purchase records.
Local storage is still subject to the protections, backups and access settings of your device and operating system. This draft does not make a separate encryption or backup guarantee.
Receipt and image access
You may choose a receipt image from the photo library or capture one with the camera. ReturnPing requests the relevant system access when you use those actions and saves the image you select or capture as the receipt copy associated with that purchase.
ReturnPing does not need access to your email inbox and does not claim to scan or recognize receipt text automatically. You are responsible for choosing the image and confirming that the saved purchase details are correct.
Notifications
If you enable notifications and choose reminders, ReturnPing schedules reminder notifications on the device for saved return, refund and warranty dates. Notification content can include a product name, a saved date and, for some refund reminders, an expected amount.
Notifications may be visible on the lock screen or in notification history depending on your device settings. You can decline notification permission or manage notification access through iOS settings. ReturnPing remains usable without enabling reminders.
In-app purchases
In-app purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple. ReturnPing does not directly receive complete payment-card details. The app may receive and locally cache store transaction information needed to determine whether a ReturnPing Pro purchase is active and to support Restore Purchases.
App Store purchase records, refunds and purchase ownership are managed under Apple’s systems and policies.
Data deletion
The current app provides deletion for individual purchases. Deleting a purchase removes its purchase record and linked refund, receipt and reminder records from the local database. The app also cancels linked scheduled notifications and attempts to delete the receipt file copied into ReturnPing’s app storage.
You can also remove an attached receipt without deleting the purchase; the app deletes the receipt record and attempts to remove its stored file. Removing ReturnPing or clearing its app data is controlled through the device and may permanently remove locally stored ReturnPing information.
Deleting a purchase, clearing local app data or deleting the app does not refund an App Store purchase and does not remove information Apple maintains about App Store purchases. Restore Purchases may recover eligible store ownership after local data is removed.
Third-party services
ReturnPing relies on Apple and iOS services when you use App Store purchases, select photos, use the camera or schedule notifications. Those platform services may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Any additional third-party SDK or service included in a released build must be reviewed and described here when its processing is relevant to this policy. This draft does not name services that are not enabled by the website configuration.
Children’s privacy
ReturnPing is not designed specifically for children. This draft does not establish an age threshold or make a jurisdiction-specific statement about children’s data. The final policy should be reviewed against the released app’s audience, distribution settings and applicable legal requirements.
If you believe a child has entered information into ReturnPing and need assistance with the locally stored record, contact us using the address below.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated when ReturnPing’s features, permissions, SDKs, data flows or legal requirements change. The revised policy should include an updated date in the configuration above. Material changes should be communicated in a manner appropriate to the released app and the nature of the change.
